The vehicle, a silver gray Toyota Revo, with license plate XAB-128, was found abandoned along the McArthur Highway in Valenzuela City by operatives of Manila Police District (MPD)s anti-carnapping (Ancar) section led by SPO1 Pedro Olanda.
"The vehicle was found intact. There were no visible signs of missing car accessories," said Ancar chief Senior Inspector Leopoldo Mangilinan.
Mangilinan said his men went to Valenzuela City to recover the car after his office received a report of the stolen vehicle.
"The car thieves possibly sensed that my men were slowly closing in on them and left the vehicle in the highway," he said.
Follow-up operations are now being conducted to identify the suspects.
Reports showed that at around 2 p.m. last July 25, six men stopped the car at the corner of Reina Regente and Soler streets in Binondo and forcibly took the vehicle, leaving its passengers behind. The victims said policemen in the area tried to intervene but were threatened by the suspects.
Meanwhile, police also nabbed yesterday a suspected lady holdupper allegedly responsible for a series of robbery on passenger jeepneys plying the Quiapo route.
Plaza Lawton police community precinct chief Inspector Alfredo Opriasa said Jhoan Panganiban, 28, a Sigue-Sigue Sputnik gang member, has been on the police wanted list following the description given to authorities by her victims. Nestor Etolle
