Caloocan public school students given school bags

At least 15,000 public school students in Caloocan City were given last week free school bags by second district Rep. Luis "Baby" Asistio.

"That was part of Congressman Asistio’s educational program aimed at helping parents cope with the high prices of basic school supplies," Cenon Mayor, president of Kalookan Assistance Council Inc. (KACI), said.

KACI is the implementing arm of Asistio’s projects.

Mayor said that apart from the P1.8 million school bag project, Asistio has also allotted P5-million for the construction of a convention center at the Caloocan City Central School.

"It’s a multipurpose convention center with state-of-the-art equipment," Mayor said.

According to Mayor, another P1.8 million school building at the Maria Clara High School on 8th Avenue is now being constructed.

He said that Asistio’s priority projects will provide students with educational facilities for quality education. The congressman is encouraging his poor constituents, particularly in the depressed areas in Dagat-Dagatan, to avail themselves of his livelihood programs.

"Home based livelihood projects are being encouraged to help parents augment their income," Mayor said.
