Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. will lead city officials in welcoming the presidents of the first batch of 150 subdivisions and villages neighborhood associations in the city. They will be participating in the forum to be held at the Philippine Social Science Center on Commonwealth Avenue from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The forum, which has the theme "Building a Quality Community with the Citizenry" is being spearheaded by the city Subdivision Administration Unit and the Community Relations Office, under the auspices of the Office of the Secretary to the Mayor, headed by Tadeo Palma.
Palma said it is imperative for the city to conduct dialogues and consultative meetings to foster better understanding with the citys various homeowners associations, which he considered as "the organized sub-unit of the barangay."
"There is an urgent need to consult them on policies pertaining to the delivery of the citys basic services, for this sector of the residential block is the backbone of the city," Palma said.
Aside from encouraging homeowners associations to be more participatory in the formulation of city government policies and programs, the forum is also aimed at securing an expanded database on the various community-based projects and programs implemented by the city government, including the number of open spaces, parks and playgrounds donated to the city government.
The forum is also aimed at addressing concerns on safety and security, infrastructure maintenance and improvement, peace and order, health and sanitation.
