An hour later, police arrested the victims great grandson, Eddie Boy Ignacio, 27, who was seen leaving their house at 49-A Bonifacio street, Barangay Kabayan a few minutes after the body of her great grandmother, Beatriz Conwi, at about 2:25 p.m.
Neighbor Lito Bongalos said he spotted Ignacio with blood all over his face, body and hands. The suspect said he had killed someone inside their house.
Prior to the discovery of Conwis body, neighbors also heard someone shouting for help inside the victims residence.
"Pare, huwag kang maingay, nakapatay ako ng tao," Ignacio reportedly told Bongalos as he rushed out of the house naked from the waist up.
Ignacio came back minutes later to change clothes.
He was last seen wearing a checkered polo shirt and carrying a bag containing his clothes as he hurriedly left the neighborhood.
However, before Bongalos could react, Ignacio has disappeared.
Responding policemen and barangay officials found Conwis body in the kitchen with her head almost chopped off with a butchers knife.
Superintendent Rodello Jocson, San Juan police chief, said his men collared Ignacio at the corner of Shaw Boulevard and Kalentong street in Mandaluyong city with the help of traffic enforcers Joel Gallardo and Joseph Medina.
The suspect could not say why he killed his great grandmother.
Neighbors, however, said Ignacio was a known drug addict. They claimed Ignacio and the victim often argued, but were always pacified by cooler heads.
Ignacio is currently detained at the San Juan detention cell.
Jocson is preparing parricide charges against him before the municipal prosecutors office.
