A police official told The STAR that the suspect, a male dancer, was Formarans lover. He, however, refused to reveal his name as well as other details about the assailant in order not to jeopardize operations.
He expressed confidence that operatives of the Central Police District (CPD) would arrest the suspect and solve the case within the week.
The gruesome killing of Formaran, the publicist of vice presidential candidate Sen. Noli de Castro, has been placed at the top of the priority ladder. An artists sketch of the suspect has been released by police.
The suspect is described as between 23 and 25 years old, 56" to 57" in height, medium built and with fair complexion.
According to Formarans household companions, the suspect was wearing a white T-shirt, blue pants, and white rubber shoes, and was carrying a gray knapsack when he arrived last Tuesday night at Formarans unit at the Golondrina Condominium on Castilla street in New Manila.
Formaran was found dead inside the comfort room by his driver Froilan Flancia and house caretaker Rey Santiago last Wednesday morning.
A cursory examination of the body disclosed that Formaran had multiple stab wounds in different parts of his body as well as ligature marks on the neck.
An ocular inspection revealed that a still undetermined amount of cash, pieces of jewelry and cellular phones belonging to Formaran were missing.
Formarans bedroom was also set on fire, destroying the ceiling and a cabinet.
The kitchen knife and cell phone charger cord used by the suspect was recovered by police at the crime scene.
