The Quezon City Muslim Consultative Council (QCMCC) said their support for the SB team is an act of gratitude for Belmontes deep concern for the Muslim community in the city.
"We decided to support the candidacy of Mayor Belmonte because of his Muslim friendly programs, particularly in employment generation, social and health services, education micro financing, housing, waste management and infrastructure development," Jameel Jaymalin, vice chairman of the QCMCC, told The STAR.
He said the Muslim group is composed of 18 associations, representing the business, religious, youth, women and community sectors.
Bong Alonto, a prominent businessman, and Engr. Shirad Navalta said they are endorsing Belmonte because of his untiring and sincere effort to uplift the economic well being of the city residents, particularly the marginalized sector.
There are about 50,000 Muslim families in Quezon City, mostly concentrated in Barangay Culiat, Commonwealth and Cubao areas. Perseus Echeminada
