Hog feed stalls traffic

Traffic crawled for hours along a stretch of A.H. Lacson street near Nagtahan Bridge in Sampaloc, Manila after powdered hog feed fell from a truck early yesterday morning.

The incident took place at around 5 a.m. yesterday, but authorities only managed to start clearing the flyover after 9 a.m., creating a monstrous traffic jam during the rush hour.

Affected were other thoroughfares leading to the congested area. At 9:10 a.m., traffic from the foot of Nagtahan Bridge corner Paz Guazon street to Jacobo Fajardo street was bumper-to-bumper.

The situation improved after firemen used hoses to remove the powdered feed from the road. They were assisted by residents and traffic enforcers from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

Authorities are still gathering information on the vehicle that caused the mayhem. – Cecille Suerte Felipe
