Fixed signboards for PUVs

The Metro Manila council on Thursday signed a Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) resolution requiring Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) operators to install fixed or permanent signboards or bus route signs on the windshield and body of their vehicles.

This is to curb the practice of drivers of cutting short their trips and shortchanging passengers.

The resolution prohibits the use of more than one windshield signboard and the use of detachable signboards and handheld route signs.

Aside from being permanently posted, route signs and signboards should also be only four inches high and in colors that would be easily identifiable to the riding public.

Violators will be fined P500. – Nikko Dizon
