MMDA traffic chief Angelito Vergel de Dios said construction of the U-turn slots in front of Eastwood, The Spa, and Acropolis Subdivision had been scheduled last night.
"Well most likely start the U-turn slots in C-5 by Monday," Vergel de Dios said.
With the U-turn slots, turning left to Marikina from Blue Ridge in front of The Spa would be prohibited, he added.
"Vehicles going to Marikina would have to make a U-turn," Vergel de Dios said.
Irate motorists have complained about the MMDAs U-turn slots, also known as the clearway scheme, saying they cause heavier traffic, especially on Quezon Avenue.
But Vergel de Dios said the scheme is still the most effective way to achieve a "non-stop flow of traffic" on congested roadways.
Aside from Quezon Avenue, the U-turn scheme is also being implemented on Marcos Highway and Commonwealth Avenue. Nikko Dizon
