WPD director Chief Superintendent Pedro Bulaong said todays honorees have shown overwhelming support and rendered valuable assistance to the programs and ideals of the Manila police in its drive to rid the city of criminality, vices and illegal drugs.
At the same time, Bulaong announced that the "WPD shall now go KALYE," which stands for his five main thrusts of reform to bring closer the populace to the police force, namely: Kaibigan, Alagad ng Batas, Lider ng mamamayan, Yaman ng kaalaman and Ehemplo ng kagandahang asal.
Todays series of activities start with a Mass at the WPDs chapel at 7 a.m. followed by the program proper to be held in front of the WPD headquarters along United Nations Avenue in Ermita, Manila.
Expected to grace the occasion are Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Hermogenes Ebdane, National Capital Regional Police Office chief Director Ricardo de Leon, Manila Mayor Lito Atienza and diplomatic corps.
The main awardees for the individual unit award are Senior Superintendent William Coronado, senior staff officer; Superintendent Edgar Danao, senior police officer; Chief Inspector Florencio Ortilla, junior staff officer; Senior Inspector Leopoldo Mangilinan, Junior police officer; Senior Inspector Jose Vicente Moya, police community relations officer; PO3 Edgardo Silva, police community relations non-commissioned officer; Senior Inspector Rizalindo Morales, operations commissioned officer; PO2 Leo Coronado, operations non-commissioned officer; SPO2 Sesima Sisma, policewoman of the year; Superintendent Manolo Martinez, police station commander;
Chief Inspector Ricardo Abando and Inspector Rosalyn Sy, police community precinct commanders; Senior Inspector Wilfredo Estrella, administration commissioned officer; SPO4 Ramon Meneses, administration non-commissioned officer; SPO4 Eduardo Villanueva, non-commissioned police officer; PO2 Rolly Caranto, beat patroller; Chief Inspector Arturo Paglinawan, senior investigator; SPO4 Alfredo Salazar, junior investigator; and Inspector Rudy Supsupin, explosives and ordnance disposal officer.
The police station of the year goes to the Sampaloc police station under Martinez, while the best police community precinct will be awarded to the Sta. Monica PCP under Senior Inspector Danilo Santos.
The District Contingency and Disaster Management Group bags the District Support Unit of the Year, while civilians Sheila Mico and Nela Nuestro will receive the non-uniformed personnel awards.
