Boy, 2, drowns in river

A two-year-old boy was found dead on the banks of the Tullahan River last Friday afternoon in Caloocan City.

Police identified the victim as Billy Boy Galero of 2 Road 5, GSIS Hills Subdivision, Barangay 164 in Sta. Quiteria, Caloocan City North.

The lifeless body was discovered by a neighbor near the Mangahan Compound in Sta. Quiteria at around 5:30 p.m., police said.

The boy was rushed to the nearby Lanting Hospital in Quezon City, but was declared dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. Divina Castillo.

Police said cursory examination by the doctors on the boy’s body showed no external injuries.

The victim’s body was brought yesterday to the Northern Police District (NPD) crime laboratory for autopsy.

In Quezon City, a fetus was discovered early yesterday morning at a church’s doorstep, police said yesterday.

They have yet to determine the sex of the recovered fetus but said it was about two months old.

Investigation showed that around 4 a.m., a certain Jose Lucero, a maintenance staff of St. Joseph Convent Perpetual Adoracion, discovered the fetus at the main door of the church located at the corner of Doña Hemady and 11th Streets, New Manila.

The fetus was placed inside a brown paper bag.
