Security guard finds vintage bombs

Four World War II bombs were found by a security guard after they were abandoned inside the National Food Authority (NFA) compound last Thursday morning in Valenzuela City.

Inspector Angelo Tamayo, chief of the Valenzuela City police Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT)-Explosives and Ordnance Division (EOD), said that the bombs, despite being old and rusty, could still explode if not properly handled.

The bombs measured around six to seven inches in diameter and some seven to 10 inches in length.

At around 10:45 a.m., security guard Larry Anilao, a guard at the local NFA office in Barangay Dalandanan found the bombs while conducting a routine check at the office compound.

SWAT-EOD operatives immediately secured the compound and removed the explosives. – Pete Laude
