Opening soon: EDSA-Tramo flyover

Trips to the airport will soon be easier as the flyover connecting EDSA to Tramo in Pasay City is set to open at the end of this month.

Mario Miranda, Metro Rail Transit (MRT) project manager of the Department of Transportation and Communications, announced they are in the final stages of the project and would open the flyover to motorists on March 31.

Miranda pointed out that the project is three months ahead of the target completion date set by the Metro Rail Transit Corp. (MRTC) and the DOTC.

The 600-meter long flyover would provide the motorists a shorter route to the airport road leading to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Since the MRT-3 tracks near the Pasay terminal are not elevated, southbound motorists have no easy access to the airport from EDSA with the left to Tramo blocked.

In order to go to the airport from EDSA, motorists have to go all the way to Roxas Boulevard and then turn back to Tramo.

The new flyover, constructed above the MRT-3 structure, would effectively cut travel time to the airport by 30 minutes.

A pedestrian overpass has also been constructed by the MRTC upon the request of the residents of the area. – Marvin Sy
