Distressed bank cashier takes own life

Hounded by work-related problems, a 30-year-old bank cashier decided to end it all by shooting herself in the mouth a few days before Christmas in Las Piñas City.

Police records identified the fatality as Rosalyn de la Cruz of Pamplona 3. She was rushed to the Perpetual Medical Center, but was declared dead on arrival.

Initial investigation showed that she killed herself around 2 p.m. last Dec. 19.

Police gathered that De la Cruz became distressed after a huge part of a P4- million money transfer had gone missing from the bank’s cash vault.

Police theorized that being a long-time employee of the commercial bank, De la Cruz could have been "a little too confident when she counted the money, which was in small bills."

De la Cruz kept the money in the vault, but later discovered that only P500,000 was inside the following day.

Authorities ruled out foul play in the incident, but said they are also checking on other possible angles that could have prompted the suicide. Nikko Dizon
