Government agents are now grilling two persons from Cotabato after they were held for bringing in a cargo of dried fish from which the home-made bombs were seized. They were nabbed after disembarking from a ship that docked at the harbor.
Agents from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Philippine National Police-Intelligence Group (PNP-IG), the PNP-Task Force Sanlahi and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) had been monitoring the movement of explosives from Cotabato since last week, following confirmed reports that a group would be smuggling bombs to Metro Manila.
"We only provided support. It’s actually an NBI operation," said a top-ranking PNP intelligence officer.
The seized home-made bombs were neatly packed in black electrical tape and covered by dried fish inside a plastic container. They were taken to Camp Crame Wednesday afternoon before being transferred to Camp R. Papa in Bicutan for detonation. – Jaime Laude
