Similar rallies were also staged by KPD members in Cebu City, Bacolod City, Midsayap, North Cotabato; and Cabacan, North Cotabato.
The rallyists arrived at the foot of the Chino Roces Bridge, which leads to the Malacañang Palace, from the Welcome Rotunda at about 10 a.m.
During the rally, KPD slammed the government for creating "terrorist hysteria."
"We are alarmed by President Arroyos fascist and militarist directions as manifested in her Proclamation 38 or State of Rebellion then, and now the railroading of the Anti-Terrorism Bill. Her all-out support to the ongoing US-led war of aggression against many countries poses grave implications and infringes upon the Filipino peoples basic human, political and civil rights," said Millet Morante, KPD Secretary General.
The KPD rallyists were met by some 200 policemen of the Western Police District who were equipped with truncheons and anti-riot gear.
Police said the rallyists dispersed peacefully at 12 noon. Mike Frialde
