Homicide detectives of the Western Police District said the victim was identified as a certain "Danny," 32 years old, who was wearing a gray shirt, khaki shorts and black sandals.
The body was first wrapped in a banig (woven grass mat) and then wrapped again in two layers of plastic sacks, police said. The victim’s right chest sustained a lone stab wound.
Police said they were alerted by garbage collectors after they saw the victim’s knee sticking out of the sack.
"It appears that the knee was deliberately exposed, Whoever did this wanted the body to be found," said WPD homicide detective Senior Police Officer Diomedes Labarda.
Labarda said Danny could have been killed some three to five hours prior to the discovery of his body. The body was discovered behind the Commission on Elections (Comelec) building at the corner of Anda and Sta. Lucia Streets at about 7 a.m.
