No bail for PNP chemist

The Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office has recommended no bail for a police forensic chemist who pilfered some 1.5 kilograms of shabu from the crime laboratory and concealed the evidence from court, Philippine National Police (PNP) officials said yesterday.

Inspector Delfin Torregoza was also charged for illegal possession of a firearm after police seized an unlicensed caliber .45 pistol after the suspect surrendered part of the shabu evidence he smuggled out of the laboratory.

The suspect is also facing dismissal charges for drug possession and infidelity in the custody.

Torregoza, assigned with the PNP Crime Laboratory at Camp Crame was supposed to present the shabu as evidence in a drug case to the Manila Regional Trial Court on June 6.

Police learned about the missing shabu after a comprehensive inventory at the crime lab. Christina Mendez
