Suspect in Briton’s killing arrested

The Makati Police arrested one of the three suspects in the murder of a British national last month.

Superintendent Jose Salido, chief of the Makati Police Criminal Investigation Section, identified the suspect as Alex Digami, a security guard assigned to the Sta. Maria Subdivision in Angeles, Pampanga.

The police said Digami was identified as one of the men who entered the rented apartment of Briton Steven Davis last July 17 in Barangay Poblacion, Makati City and shot him to death.

He was presented to the media yesterday at the office of Mayor Jejomar Binay and in the presence of National Capital Region Police chief Reynaldo Velasco.

It will be recalled that the incident took place in the early morning of July 17, moments after Davis and his business partner Canadian Michael Dunn got home from the airport after fetching Dunn’s Filipina girlfriend.

Three armed men went inside the apartment and found Dunn and his girlfriend in one of the rooms.

The suspects asked for the keys of their car but Dunn and his girlfriend were unable to produce it.

One of the suspects dragged the girlfriend into the comfort room and locked her inside while the two other men entered the other room where Davis was sleeping.

According to Dunn, he heard gunshots from inside Davis’ room and immediately after, the suspects ran out of the apartment.

Davis was killed on the spot with multiple gunshot wounds inflicted by .45 caliber and 9mm pistols.

Follow-up operations conducted by the CIS resulted in the surfacing of an informant who claimed that one of the suspects was hiding in Angeles City.

Last Wednesday afternoon, a team from the Makati Police led by Salido was able to apprehend Digami at his post at the Sta. Maria Subdivision.

Davis and his Filipina wife are both residents of Angeles City where a branch of their business is located.

The two foreigners were partners in the Jadecool Internet Café business with branches in Makati City and Angeles City. Marvin Sy
