Cop undergoing Subic training suffers stroke

One of the 341 Pasay City policemen undergoing 20-day re-training in Subic, Olongapo City was rushed to the hospital for treatment after he suffered a mild stroke.

The victim, SPO1 Gil Silao, was transferred yesterday to the camp Crame General Hospital for further medical treatment, said Chief Superintendent Rowland Albano, deputy chief for administration of the Metro Manila police.

Albano rushed to Subic yesterday to check the physical condition of the Pasay City policemen to prevent another Silao case and conduct an inspection of their training facilities.

Silao was resting after attending morning classes when he felt numbness in his arms and had difficulty moving his legs. His classmates rushed him to the James Gordon Memorial Hospital for treatment. But Albano yielded to the request of Silao’s wife to transfer him yesterday to Camp Crame.

The Health Service of the National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) also sent yesterday a medical team to the training site in Subic to care for the Pasay City policemen. – Non Alquitran
