Marikina tops DAP survey

The City of Marikina ranks first based on the results of the Report Card Survey (RCS) conducted by the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) during presentation in the two-day City Development Strategy for Luzon held in the city.

Based on scaled responses of the respondents, with 100 being the highest and 10 the lowest, Marikina got an overall highest main score of 73 satisfaction rating from constituents.

Marikina ranks first in public safety phone numbers and advisories, public safety, garbage and public management and permits and licensing.

Funded by Asian Development Bank, the DAP Survey on Specific Public Services from June 12 to Aug. 7, 2001 covering 2,700 respondents from nine cities in Metro Manila had a broader coverage as it asked citizens about their satisfaction with public services.

From most to least populous which includes Quezon City, Manila, Pasig, Makati, Parañaque, Marikina, Pasay, Muntinlupa and Mandaluyong, five services- garbage, public safety and traffic management, public markets and permits and licensing were evaluated.

The RCS enables the people who use specific public services to give "grades" on distinct "subjects" or performance categories. It also shows to the pubic service providers areas of weakness, strengths and improvement.
