Man knifed dead over P800 debt

A 36-year-old man from Las Piñas City not only failed to collect a P800 debt from a neighbor yesterday. He also lost his life over the amount.

Victim Edison Samartino, 36, of J.P. Rizal Street, Pamplona I was declared dead on arrival at the Christ the King Hospital after he suffered several stab wounds in the body.

Police arrested Richie Perez, 27, a neighbor of the victim, who stabbed Samartino. Authorities are hunting down Perez’s cousin and reported accomplice, Edison Magidad, 24.

The incident happened at around 9:30 a.m. on Florente Street, Balagtas, Pamplona I.

Investigation showed that Samartino bumped into Perez on Florente Street and decided to collect the latter’s P800 debt.

But Perez claimed he still could not pay the victim. A heated argument ensued until Perez and Magidad stabbed the victim several times. Nikko Dizon
