Man stabbed dead for Parker pen, wallet

Police are now looking a still unidentified man who allegedly robbed and stabbed dead the other night a 54-year-old laborer for his Parker pen and wallet inside his home in Quezon City.

Victim Ignacio Grillo, 54, of 119 Kaliraya St., Barangay Tatalon, sustained a stab wound in the body and died while receiving medical treatment at the National Orthopedic Hospital.

The killer, who escaped, was described as a man in his early thirties and according to police, "had some sort of a mental illness." He was reportedly seen admiring Grillo’s blue Parker pen the day before.

Initial reports showed that the incident happened at about 11:30 p.m. inside the victim’s home in Barangay Tatalon, Quezon City. Investigators are still determining whether Grillo knew his killer.

Grillo was apparently asleep at the time when the robber broke into his house. The assailant went straight to the master’s bedroom and tried to pick the victim’s pocket to obtain his Parker pen and wallet.

The killer got hold of both items, but Grillo reportedly woke up. The robber then took out a bladed weapon and stabbed the victim on the right side of his chest, the police said.

Despite being wounded, Grillo was still able to call his sister Remedios for help. She arrived a few minutes later and took the bleeding victim to the hospital where he died at about 1 a.m. Matthew Estabillo
