PGH rolls back diagnostic fees

The Philippine General Hospital (PGH) announced yesterday it has recalled the imposition of rate increases on laboratory and diagnostic charges for all charity patients made last Sept. 12. However, the PGH stressed that the rollback does not cover pay patients as the hospital is in dire need of funds to finance its operations.

It was learned that the decision for the rollback was made by the executive committee of the hospital, headed by Dr. Juan Maria Pablo Nañagas in keeping with the spirit of the Yuletide season and as a manifestation of the admnistration’s solidarity with the masses.

The PGH administration also revealed that they also recalled the rate increase they imposed on ‘blue card’ patients.

They said they made this with "much regret" pointing out that this will mean that they will not be able to carry out a plan to beef-up their hospital staff with the hiring of 10 additional medical specialists. Rainier Allan Ronda
