Jericho (not his real name), sustained a swollen face, contusions and bruises after he was beaten black and blue by his own father because he was crying.
Elmer Quimson, 22, of Phase 5, Paradise Village, Letre Road, Malabon City was arrested for beating his firstborn son and his eight-months pregnant wife, Jerly, 27.
Jerly said that at about 7 p.m. Friday, her husband, a deliveryman in a lumber store, arrived home very tired and their son started crying, angering his father, who grabbed a broom and whipped the child. "I was tired and wanted to take a rest but he kept on crying even after I picked him up to calm him," Quimson said.
Jerly, who tried to pacify her husband but was also punched in the face, sought the help of Civilian Volunteers Against Crime (CVAC), who in turn asked for the assistance of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Northern Field Office (CIDG-NFO) under Superintendent Gene Ines Abrajano.
Abrajano immediately dispatched a team led by SPO2 Marlon Montezon with CVAC members, resulting in the arrest of Quimson. Pete Laude
