The housewife, whose name was withheld, was still nursing an injury to her buttocks last Wednesday after slipping down wet galvanized iron sheets in her escape when accompanied to police by a neighbor who responded to her cry for help.
Charged yesterday with attempted rape was her attacker Joselito Javier, 34, whom responding policemen fortunately crossed paths with while about to leave their neighborhood in Pildera street, Pasay.
Based on the victims statement to Senior Police Officer 4 Mila Carrasco of the Pasay City Womens Desk section, she was awaken by touches on her private parts at about 3 a.m. Wednesday. The victim said she opened her eyes and saw the suspect sitting beside her bed caressing her body.
The housewife was then alone as her husband was in Pampanga. The couple have just transferred to the community.
The woman said that Javier immediately poked a knife at her and threatened her with death if she would resist. The suspect then proceeded to remove her undergarments.
But presence of mind prompted the victim to fake difficulty in breathing while Javier tried to mount her. The woman told the suspect that she was having a fit and could die of a heart attack if the latter would not get a glass of water from the ground floor.
Reluctantly, Javier reportedly tried to take her with him to the ground floor but the woman reasoned that it would worsen her condition.
The victim said she finally enticed the suspect to get the glass of water by promising to cooperate "in whatever he wanted to do with her" when he returns with the water, Javier, who was by then only wearing briefs, reportedly acceeded.
It was at this point that the victim jumped out of the rooms window but the nights rain had made the roof slippery, causing her to slip.
The woman said that in the past Javier had been trying to tease her with the words "Ms. Beautiful" and his "sexy crush" each time they saw each other in the neighborhood. The woman said she would ignore the suspect each time since she does not know him. Jose Aravilla
