Chinese garments trader arrested on rape charges

A Chinese garments trader was arrested by police after allegedly raping a 17-year-old business client in his residence Friday afternoon in Caloocan City.

Superintendent Dionicio Borromeo, Station Intelligence and Investigation Division (SIID) chief, identified the suspect as Ang Hu Yao, 35, who gave his address as Cordero Street, 3rd Avenue, Caloocan City.

Borromeo said Ang was reportedly a rejected suitor of the victim, who frequented his house during business hours for ready-to-wear (RTW) items in bulk which she in turn retails. The victim claimed Ang forced himself on her, threatening to harm her if she resisted.

The incident is said to have taken place at around 5:15 p.m. inside the suspect’s house.

Prior to the incident, the victim told probers, the suspect had been courting her for a year but she turned down his proposals, explaining she was already committed to a Filipino.

Instead of keeping her ordeal to herself despite the suspect’s threats, she reported to the police. – Jerry Botial
