Biker killed by jeep in Parañaque

A 26-year-old man was killed while biking in Parañaque early yesterday after being hit by a stainless jeep.

Jericho Lopez of Camia Street, Camella Homes, Barangay Don Bosco, Better Living, was declared dead at the Olivarez Memorial Hospital due to massive injuries sustained from the impact.

Parañaque traffic police said the accident happened at about 2 a.m. near the victim’s residence. It could not be immediately determined what Lopez was doing out on the street at that hour.

The driver of the stainless jeep (DLN-512), Darwin Valenzuela, immediately surrendered to police. Police said Valenzuela, of Venais street, Executive Homes, Parañaque, tried to save the victim by taking him to the hospital.

Valenzuela is now detained at the Parañaque City police detention cell awaiting charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.

Meanwhile, a porter was stabbed dead allegedly by a neighbor with the use of a steel cane in Binondo, Manila the other night.

Romeo Castelo, 31, of 235 Area S, Parola Compound, died while being taken to the hospital.

Investigators are now hunting down the suspect, Agripino Salac, 50, who escaped after the incident at around 10 p.m. Friday in Parola Compound, Tondo, Manila.

The victim was on his way home after attending the debut of a friend when he met Salac in front of the suspect’s house. The victim and the suspect had a heated argument and Salac stabbed Castelo with the steel cane.

In Pandacan, Manila, June Porcall, 18, jobless, was killed by a group of men in the Bagong Barangay Livelihood Project at around 7:30 p.m.

The suspects, said to be drug addicts, scampered in different directions after the incident while concerned citizens rushed the victim to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Jose Aravilla and Cecille Suerte Felipe
