1.5 kilos of shabu seized

Some 1.5 kilos of shabu were seized Tuesday by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation in two separate operations in Caloocan and Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Also arrested during the buy-bust operations were suspected drug pushers Leman Ang, and Tia Ang, 36, of 503 Gonzalo Puyat St., Sta. Cruz; Zhangwei Lu, 31, a Chinese national from Chio Sai, China; Kalil Arab, and a certain Abdul, 21, a native of Matanong, Maguindanao and residing at Barangay Datu Esmael, Dasmariñas, Cavite.

According to the NBI, their Special Task Force unit had received information that two Chinese businessmen are allegedly engaged in large-scale drug trafficking in Caloocan City.

Acting on the information, NBI agents assisted by elements of the Caloocan City police, conducted a buy-bust operation at M.H. del Pilar St. in Caloocan City. According to the NBI, Ang and Zhangwei were nabbed after receiving P580,000 in marked money from a poseur-buyer in exchange for a kilo of shabu with a street value worth at least P2 million.

Later in the day, NBI agents conducted a separate buy-bust operation in Dasmariñas, Cavite where they arrested Arab after handing over 500 grams of shabu to an undercover agent. – Mike Frialde
