Builder, aide ambushed

Two suspected hired killers waiting in ambush, shot to death a building contractor and his employee who were riding tandem on a scooter early Friday evening in Caloocan City.

City police chief, Superintendent Benjardi Mantele, identified the fatalities as 47-year-old Elmer Dequeroz, a resident of 38 M Sta. Cruz Compound, Congressional Village, Quezon City and his employee, Millarie Orit, of Block 116, Lot 6, Barangay 116, Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.

Dequeroz and Orit died on the spot from gunshot wounds at around 7:15 p.m. on Golden Street, Industrial Subdivision in Kaybiga, Caloocan City when fired upon. Police recovered several empty shells and slugs from the crime scene.

Mantele ordered Station Investigation and Intelligence Division (SIID) chief Superintendent Dionicio Borromeo to handle the case after probers learned from Dequeroz’s family that he had been receiving death threats over the phone from unidentified callers prior to the killing.

Mantele said the suspects could be professional hired killers as shown by the way they carried out the ambush. Jerry Botial and Pete Laude
