The robbers met no resistance at the Tambunting pawnshop at the corner of Alfonso street and Ortigas Avenue Extension in Barangay Rosario as the pawnshop had no security guard, said Superintendent John Sosito, Pasig City police chief.
Lita Hidalgo, the pawnshop appraiser, said the robbers, brandishing automatic weapons, barged in at about 1 p.m.
Hidalgo said two of the armed men stood guard near the entrance while their third companion, smashed the glass display cases with a hammer and carted away the jewelry, escaping before responding policemen arrived.
Sosito said according to witnesses the robbers boarded a gold Honda Civic (UFZ101) and escaped towards the floodway in Barangay Manggahan.
The police prepared cartographic sketches of the three robbers as described by Hildago and other witnesses.
Sosito dispatched a crack police team headed by Inspector Rodante Arcigal, head of the follow-up operations unit, to go after the suspects, who were described as in their early 40s, standing under 5 8" in height, and wearing striped polo shirts and khaki pants. Non Alquitran
