Cariño seeks lone Pasig House seat

A successful businessman announced yesterday his plan to run for congressman in Pasig City’s lone district, reacting to the public clamor for "new, young and dynamic leaders whose expertise could the tapped for the development not only of Pasig but also of the entire country."

Business leaders in Pasig, said that Noel "Toti" Cariño, president of Fil-Estate Realty Corp. which is the mother firm of the Pasig-based Fil-Estate group of companies, could represent the people of Pasig in the House of Representatives well, considering not only his business acumen but also his innovative ideas which made Fil-Estate one of the biggest realty firms in the country in less than 20 years.

Carino’s supporters said that at a time when the country is in the thick of efforts aimed at economic recovery, the nation urgently needs young and energetic leaders like Cariño. These leaders, they said, will certainly be a big help to the government’s program to improve the economy.

Cariño has a track record as a business leader whose firms are responsible for the implementation of multi-billion-peso projects. These include the EDSA-MRT (Metro Star), Camp John Hay in Baguio City and the Fairways and Bluewater in Boracay.

In urging Cariño to seek the Pasig congressional seat, his supporters also took note of his humble beginnings and his rags-to-riches life story.
