Makati City wins bid for bigger jail facility

The city jail of Makati recently scored a major victory in its bid to provide its 238 inmates a new and improved facility.

Jail Warden Manuel Collado reported that the Pasig Regional Trial Court has ruled in its favor regarding the transfer of its inmates to a new jail facility inside the Fort Bonifacio.

The original transfer was supposed to have taken place several months ago but was suspended as a result of a temporary restraining order filed by the municipality of Taguig.

Taguig Mayor Ricardo Papa argued that the transfer of the inmates to the new facility is detrimental to his constituents for security reasons.

The decision to convert the old stockade into a jail facility was decided upon by Makati City Mayor Elenita Binay for humanitarian reasons.
