This came after the San Juan police was adjudged the Best Municipal Police Station for the months of May, July and November and the second and third quarters of the year.
Metro Manila police chief Director Edgar Aglipay handed a plaque of recognition to the San Juan police during a command conference Thursday for besting five other Metro Manila towns in the performance rating for the month of November.
Aglipay gave the same award to the Caloocan City police as the Best City Police Station.
The Northern Police District (NPD) under Senior Superintendent Marlowe Pedregoza was named the Best Police District for the month of November.
Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, San Juan police chief, credited the award to the all-out support of Mayor Jinggoy Estrada and his highly motivated police personnel.
The police recorded zero figures in bank and bigtime robbery and kidnapping-for-ransom cases.
"We recorded a number of petty crimes but majority of them were solved by my men," said Cruz in a telephone interview.
Cruz said the San Juan police also rated high in their anti-drugs campaign. He admitted drug users still abound in six barangays but he stressed that efforts are now underway to have them arrested or rehabilitated.
But an alarmed Senior Superintendent Simeon Dizon Jr., Eastern Police District (EPD) director ordered Cruz to make San Juan drug-free by the end of the year.
"He must exert additional efforts to rid his area of drug pushers and users by the end of the month," said Dizon. Non Alquitran
