Market vendors in Mandaue whine over low income

CEBU, Philippines - Business for vendors at the new Mandaue City public market looks bleak at the moment what with the suspension of multicabs’ travel route as a consequence of the ongoing repair of the road that leads to the market.

Market administrator Mosulini Soliva said he will ask the Traffic Enforcement and Management (TEAM) to find a solution to the vendors’ problem as soon as possible. He said he might also recommend a new route for the multicabs.

Soliva said early this month, the repair of B. Ceniza Extension, the road that leads to the new market, and the rehabilitation of the drainage system along this road, make it difficult for multicabs to transport passengers to and from the market.

Market vendors also attribute their low income to illegal vendors at the old public market who seem to keep one step ahead of the competition.
