CEBU, Philippines - Two towns in Cebu will celebrate today their fiesta in honor of their patron, Saint James the Apostle.
Compostela town celebrates today “Caballo de Compostela Festival” to mark its annual fiesta in honor of Saint James the Apostle, while Sogod town will also celebrate its “Pagsogod Festival” today in honor of the same saint.
Compostela town Mayor Joel Quiño has invited Governor Gwen Garcia and Vice Governor Agnes Magpale for the fiesta.
Sogod town launched the “Panagsogod” in 2008, now known not only in Cebu but also in other parts of the country and abroad.
Foreign and local tourists are expected to descend on the town.
Sogod Mayor Lissa Marie “Moonyen” Durano said several contingents composed of students from the different public elementary and high schools, will join the street parade.
Panagsogod Festival will give life to the town’s eponymous name as it will serve as a sneak peek to what lies ahead for a town inhabited by people formerly living ordinary lives. - THE FREEMAN
