CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City council yesterday approved a proposed resolution which grants a six-month rehabilitation leave with pay to a regular employee assigned at the Department of General Services who suffered burns after touching a live wire while performing his duties last May 28.
Petronilo Degojas, an employee assigned to the DGS was repairing a street light in barangay Tingub when he touched a live wire.
He stayed in hospital for a month for third degree burns before passing away.
City Councilor Jimmy Lumapas who is the proponent of the resolution said what prompted him to pass a resolution is because the wife sought the help of Mayor Jonas Cortes for the hospitalization expenses.
The city then gave P50,000 and then the mayor then ordered Lumapas to sponsor a resolution entitling the victim to a six-month full pay of his salary while availing a rehabilitation leave. - THE FREEMAN
