CEBU, Philippines - The inmate who escaped from his escorts after attending a hearing of his case last May 22 is back at the Mandaue City Jail and is now considered as a “high risk prisoner.”
Ricky Andujar, 19, of barangay Binaliw, Cebu City was recaptured by the Provincial Intelligence Branch of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) at a friend’s house in barangay Poblacion Oriental in Consolacion town Thursday morning.
Andujar took a bullet on the thigh when he tried to escape.
Newly installed Mandaue City warden C/Insp. Gil Inopia said Andujar is now confined in a cell with a few other prisoners.
Inopia said precautionary measures are in place to prevent him from escaping again.
As of the moment, escaping is out of the question since Andujar has wounds to worry about, one on the thigh and many others on his feet which he sustained by stepping on thorns while running from pursuing policemen last week.
Inopia said a nurse at the jail is tending to his wounds.
He said he will be placed under maximum security when he attends hearings again.
The warden denied reports that Andujar escaped after a beating for unpaid debts for food and cigarettes.
He said vending inside the jail had been prohibited long before he came in.
“Nangita na lang na siya og alibi kay wa naman dyud gi-allow ang tindahan diri. Apan di sad ka kalikay usahay sa palusot ilabi na og isoksok ang sigarilyo sa kinatawo unya kuwang ta og tawo maong makalusot usahay ug bahion sa pagkaon. Usahay nay dalaw daghanon niya ug dala ang pagkaon unya ang piniriso paulian. Ipautang o ba kaha ibaligya sa laing piniriso ngadto niya. Kana nuon wa na ta’y mahimo ana,” Inopia said.
