8 neophyte congressmen, JCI, Gawad Kalinga build houses for typhoon victims

CEBU, Philippines - Sixth district Rep. Gabriel Luis Quisumbing and six other neophyte congressmen have donated P110,000 each for the construction of houses for victims of Typhoon Sendong in Cagayan de Oro.

Last Sunday, Quisumbing, JV Ejercito, Mark Sambar, Karlo Nograles, Micahel Velarde, Dax Cua, Jun Ebdane, and Aliah Dimaporo in partnership with Gawad Kalinga and the Junior Chamber International (JCI) constructed houses for the victims.

“Rest assured that this activity is just the beginning among neophyte congressmen. We hope to extend our assistance to other parts of the country and encourage other first term congressmen and the rest of our colleagues to join us in these effort,” Quisumbing said.

Also present during the activity were Dr. Alfonso Del Feirro Jr. of Gawad Kalinga and Mr. Tootsie Besinga, project manager of Gawad Kalinga.

Cagayan de Oro, Iligan City and some parts of Negros Oriental were badly hit by typhoon Sendong last December. (FREEMAN)
