Motorist stabs traffic enforcer in Lapu-Lapu

CEBU, Philippines - A motorist stabbed a traffic enforcer during an altercation over an alleged traffic violation Wednesday afternoon along Lopez Jaena Street in barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City.

Tricycle driver Ryan Alegarbes, of sitio Sugtungan in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City stabbed Temistocles Boholst, 69, a personnel of the City Traffic Management System.

The Lapu-Lapu City Traffic Division said Boholst was directing traffic at around 1 p.m. Wednesday when Alegarbes stopped his tricycle in the middle of the highway and unloaded passengers.

Boholst told the driver not to do it again but Alegarbes allegedly resented being told. As alleged, he told Boholst he would be back to hurt him.

Alegarbes came back with a kitchen knife and stabbed Boholst, hitting him on the chest, stomach, and right arm.

But Alegarbes was immediately arrested by PO2 Winston Ybañez after a witness reported the incident to the police.

The man is now detained at the holding cell of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office. - THE FREEMAN
