CEBU, Philippines - Provincial board member Thadeo Ouano yesterday denied he was running for vice governor under the One Cebu Party of Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia in the 2013 elections.
Rumors, Ouano said.
Ouano said he has no idea where the story came from. He said the governor has not discussed with him any political line up of the party for next year’s elections.
Ouano believed his name might have been floated for the reason that Mandaue City, although a small area, is considered as one of the vote-rich cities in the province.
However, he said if the governor gives him the go-signal to run as vice governor, it would be a great honor for him. He said he is qualified considering his performance and experience as mayor of Mandaue City for three terms and being an incumbent provincial board member.
“Dakong dungog ug garbo na nato apan ato sang hunahunaon,” Ouano said.
Ouano said there are also other politicians who are also qualified to run for the post such as businessman Glenn Soco who lost in the last elections.
Ouano also said he was glad Mayor Jonas Cortes has consented to make him a guest candidate of the Liberal Party.
He said all he needs now is a public confirmation from the mayor.
He said he doubts if anyone who will ran against Mayor Jonas Cortes will win against him in the coming 2013 elections.
It is just easy for anybody to run but what is hard is winning the election, he said.
“kusog kaayong mo-wallop si Jonas,” Ouano said in a jest.
When the board member was sought for comment on the political career of former sixth district representative Nerissa Soon Ruiz who lost against Cortes, Ouano said it is better to leave her destiny to God.
“Ginoo na lang sa’y mag-igo niya, naa na ra bay nasuko nato dihang misulti ko ana niadto, apan di baya na angay ikasuko kay Ginoo baya dyuy mo-determine sa atong destiny,” Ouano said. (FREEMAN)
