CEBU, Philippines - A man who was recently released from jail was arrested again Sunday afternoon for the alleged rape of a 17-year-old neighbor in barangay Casili, Consolacion town.
The man, 31, now faces a rape case after a witness alleged the rape took place in a cousin’s house.
He was previously charged with sexual harassment for molesting a niece who is also a minor and detained at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center.
Sr. Insp. Wilson Parrilla, Consolacion police chief, said that prior to the incident the girl went to the house of the man’s cousin to charge her cellular phone inside a room.
The police said the girl was already out of the house when the man called her to say her phone was ringing.
Parrilla said the girl went back into the room and then the man who was armed with a knife suddenly locked the room and said, “Unsa man tagud-taguron tika (Do you want me to cut you up into pieces)?”
Parilla said the man warned the girl not to tell anyone about what happened.
But the girl went home and told her sister the man raped her. The girl’s sister went to the police.
The girl was taken to the pink room of the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for medical examination.
From January this year, the police have recorded eight rape cases in Consolacion town. - THE FREEMAN
