CEBU, Philippines - A man, who was on his way home with a friend, was killed yesterday dawn by another man who was having a drink with friends at a vulcanizing shop in barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City.
Greggy Ople, 29, of barangay Casuntingan, was walking with Joel Maghuyop after having a few drinks at a store.
When they passed by a vulcanizing shop, five men who were drinking there made fun of them. One of the men even struck Ople with a steel bar, which sent him to the ground. For a few moments, Ople was unconscious.
Maghuyop took Ople to the Mandaue City Hospital but Ople decided to get out of it because he had no money for hospitalization.
Ople died hours later at his residence.
Maghuyop reported the incident to the police, which arrested Romeo Villamor, 46, in sitio Calderohan in barangay Maguikay.
SPO1 Dexter Martin said Villamor denied he struck Ople and instead pointed to a certain “Japon.”
The police are looking for Villamor’s companions.
