Businessmen urge Mandaue execs to decide quickly where to build flyover

CEBU, Philippines - Businessmen in Mandaue City have urged city officials to decide quickly where to put up the flyover granted to it by the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Eric Mendoza, president of the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), said during the consultative meeting attended by top officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the city government has been given one week to decide to pinpoint the location for the flyover.

But Mayor Jonas Cortes and city officials asked the DPWH to give them time to make a decision.

Mendoza suggested A.C. Cortes Avenue in barangay Alang-Alang and Plaridel Street in barangay Cambaro as ideal places for a flyover.

Mandaue City Administrator James Abadia also suggested that the flyover should be constructed at Sotero Cabahug corner A.C. Cortes Avenue in barangay Ibabao-Estancia.

Mendoza said if city officials fail to hurry, there is a possibility of another city getting the opportunity to build a flyover instead of Mandaue. - THE FREEMAN
