Mandaue seeks reclassification of road sections

CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City council has endorsed to Secretary Rogelio Singson of the Department of Public Works and Highways a list of sections of city roads in Mandaue for re-classification for purposes of repair, maintenance, and management.

Mandaue City Councilor Jimmy Lumapas who introduced the resolution said there is an urgent need to re-classify the five road sections in the city.

The road sections include A.S. Fortuna St., Plaridel St., M.L. Quezon Avenue, Mandaue Causeway/Ouano Avenue, and Hernan Cortes Street.

The city council resolution said the Department of Public Works and Highways is a subsidiary agency of the national government whose steadfast mission is to effectively carry out and implement the national infrastructure programs of the government.

The Mandaue City council resolution said Executive Order No. 427, promulgated by then President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on May 16, 2005 is deemed to be ineffective due to the fact that there was no Deed of Conveyance executed by the Department of Public Works and Highways and the city government.  (FREEMAN)
