CEBU, Philippines - Senator Allan Peter Cayetano and his sister Senator Pia Cayetano have assured city, municipal, and barangay officials that additional funds from their respected Priority Development Assistance Fund will be allocated for Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
The information was relayed by Rey Martinez, staff of Senator Allan Peter Cayetano and convenor of the Companero Cayetano Tavang Volunteers.
Martinez said last year the Cayetanos allocated P5 million to the medical center.
Both senators signed a memorandum of agreement with the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for the medical assistance for indigent patients who seek treatment at the government-owned hospital.
At present, the hospital uses the balance of P5 million for the purchase of medicine for patients.
Naga City’s indigent residents benefit from the assistance.
Naga City Mayor Val Chiong said a number of patients visit him everyday and ask for assistance for the purchase of medicine.
Consolacion town Mayor Teresa Alegado, on the other hand, said a number of the residents in her town also avail of the help from the senators.
Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes also receives the same assistance.
In Danao City, Mayor Ramon Durano, Jr. and his brother Vice Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III also avail of the same program.
