2 robbers fall in hot pursuit

CEBU, Philippines - Two suspected robbers were arrested during a hot pursuit operation in Lapu-Lapu City seven hours after hitting a bakery in Mandaue City yesterday dawn.

Renato Evangelista and Joven Estrera, both 18-years-old and residents of sitio Latasan in Barangay Labogon, Mandaue City, were arrested at 9:00 am yesterday in Barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City by the pursuing operatives of the Basak Police Station led by Inspector Wilson Abot.

The suspects went on hiding after robbing Rowena Sorinio, cashier of Charls Seven Bakeshop, in Labogon at 2:00 am yesterday.  

Sorinio said the suspects divested her of the bakeshop’s sales amounting to P3,900. The police were able to recover part of the loot, a pack of shabu, drug paraphernalia and an ice pick.

The police found out that Estrera is wanted for theft and has a pending warrant of arrest while Evangelista is allegedly involved in the spate of snatching cases in Mandaue City.

The suspects are now detained at the Basak Police Station while charges are being prepared for filing at the prosecutor’s office. - THE FREEMAN
