Mandaue okays P1.6B annual budget for 2012

CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City council has approved the P1.6 billion proposed annual budget for 2012 earlier endorsed by Mayor Jonas  Cortes.

Proposed appropriations for all items were approved during the third  and final reading Wednesday.

“Way slashing  sa atong budget kay angay pa man gani untang pun-an,” Andaya said.

Before its approval, the proposed budget underwent a series of hearings conducted by Councilor Beethoven Andaya, the committee chairman on appropriations, budget and finance with department heads in attendance.

Mandaue City’s next year’s budget amounts to P1,612,547,320.99 is almost twice this year’s annual budget at P953.2 million.

The bulk of the 2012 budget will come from the city’s general fund, which has a total estimated revenue of P1,367,278,003.19.

Some parts of the budget are derived from revenues from the 20 percent development fund which is P82.7 million, city public market amounting to P90.1 million, slaughterhouse P20.3 million, city hospital P45.5 million, city and the city sports complex P6.6 million.

The Department of General Services got the biggest bulk with P221,493,207.80, the City Engineer’s Office is next with P85.5 million, the Mayor’s Office with P68.9 million, and the Sangguniang Panlungsod with P48.2 million.

In the non-office grouping, P182.5 million goes to other programs and projects, P72.5 million to the city’s calamity fund, P53 million goes to the city’s loan amortization.

The administration’s aid to the barangays for its development projects remains at P27 million, each of the 27 barangays of the city will receive P1 million each.

Set aside for the purchase of motor vehicles is P18.3 million, purchase of  motorcycles P1.7 million.
