CEBU, Philippines - Five alleged members of the street gang “Bloods,” three of whom juveniles, were arrested Tuesday dawn for attacking two brothers who were having a drink inside a store in sitio Calderohan in barangay Casuntingan, Mandaue City.
SPO1 Renato Canja of Casuntingan Police said that brothers Jerry Joy Salgado, 30, and Joviel Salgado were drinking when one of the gang members approached them and for no apparent reason started hitting one of the brothers. The rest of the gang members then joined in.
“Nag-inom ra ang mga biktima, ambot nasuyaan man anang Bloods ug gitabangan dayon nila ug kulata ang managsoon,” SPO1 Canja said.
The gang members left before the police arrived.
However, one of them was identified as Oliver Buhani, 18.
A concerned citizen led the police to the perpetrators’ hideout in sitio Lub-ang and arrested three gang members while one eluded arrest.
Also arrested were Oliver Buhani,18, Arturo Valdomar, 20, of barangay Subangdaku. A certain Jay-ar Trinidad, 20, of barangay Tingub, is at large.
An improvised rifle and two handrolled marijuana cigarets were seized.
All five suspects are now detained at the Casuntingan police station pending the filing of charges against them.
