48-year-old Akrho member shot dead

CEBU, Philippines - A 48-year old man, reportedly identified with the fraternity Alpha Kappa Rho (AKRHO), was shot dead at the Cebu South Coastal Road, Rabaya Street area, in barangay San Roque, Talisay City by a still unidentified man who was a passenger of a motorcycle Wednesday night.

Police identified the man through his identification card as Juanito Dias Barnes Jr., a resident of barangay Poblacion, Minglanilla town.

He died from a single gunshot to the head.

He was rushed to the Talisay City District Hospital but died minutes later.

As of yesterday morning, Barnes, Jr.'s relatives had yet to claim him from the hospital's morgue.

Investigator PO3 Benedicto Lasque, said Barnes was traveling on a motorcycle as passenger from barangay Tanke before the shooting.

Witnesses said Barnes and the driver were laughing when two men, also on a motorcycle, passed by and one of them fired at Barnes.

Shortly after the shooting, the two men on the other motorcycle sped off.

Police recovered an empty shell of a .45 caliber pistol. - THE FREEMAN
